Prime Minister Spencer in talks with officials of the Republic of Abkhazia

Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. W. Baldwin Spencer, held cordial talks with Dr. Irakli Khintba, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, regarding that country’s desire to obtain official recognition from Antigua and Barbuda.
During the deliberation, the Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the need to establish the bonds of solidarity and friendship and broaden the legal framework of cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Spencer expressed appreciation to the Deputy Foreign Minister for his visit to Antigua and Barbuda and acknowledged the challenges encountered by the Republic of Abkhazia in their quest for peace and international recognition.
Prime Minister Spencer pledged to continue dialogue on the issue with Abhazian officials.
The Republic of Abkhazia is a disputed territory on the eastern coast of the Black Sea that considers itself an independent state with recognition from the Russian Federation, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
