Health Award Assistant Training Program 2012

Assistant nursing practitioners at various levels throughout the health industry in the country are now the recipients of high level training aimed at better equipping them with improved skills necessary for their practice.

Twenty (20) nursing personnel have graduated from the Ministry of Health’s Award Assistant Program 2012. The training program was intensive and spanned a six (6) month period.

Principal Nursing Officer Elnora Warner says the purpose of the program was primarily to upgrade the skills set of care providers. These providers were already a part of the health care system but were not trained.

Minister of Health the Hon. Wilmoth Daniel says this latest effort by the Ministry has aided in building capacity of the nursing professionals. He also says that this program shows the Ministry’s commitment to provide quality health care to Antiguans and Barbudans.

According to the Health Minister, training should be on-going in an effort to strengthen the health sector.  Daniel says his Ministry will be monitoring and controlling the education of health professionals as well as the preparation and practice of all levels of health care.
