Kathleen Williams-Michael and Joyce M. Gilead are the latest of a batch of hospitality educators to have earned full Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) designation.

Both were selected to attend a 4 day hospitality training workshop in Barbados which included three days of intense training and a day of review and examinations.

On successful completion of the exam (for which participants had to receive a 75% or higher grade point), they were commissioned to execute an in class training video to be sent to the educational institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association.

Another 75% pass average had to be maintained for this phase, after which CHE designation is attained.

The approval of this presentation was the last phase of the programme requirements for the instructors and as such they are awaiting their official CHE certificate and maintenance portfolio which will outline the requirements necessary for maintaining such designation over the next five years.

An elated Director of the Institute, Muriel O'Mard says that achieving such a milestone could only reiterate the Ministry's commitment to maintaining the standards of excellence and professionalism in the hospitality field.

It is the Ministry Tourism plan to continue in this vein, by ensuring that such opportunities for training and elevation of staff remains as policy.
