Calvin S prepares Joseph for the shoot

The 2004 Independence Homecoming Queen, Keylah Joseph is the main character in the first video advertisement produced by the Independence Steering Committee.

The advert aims at promoting this year's Independence Home Coming Celebrations, which is being held under the theme, "Antigua/Barbuda One Family-Working Together to Achieve Excellence."

The advertisement was conceptualized by Communications Officer within the Ministry of Housing, Culture & Social Transformation and Public Relations Officer for the Independence celebrations, Collin Jno-Finn. Marlon Jeffers of Belmont Studio filmed and edited the production.

In the promotional material, the 2004 Independence Queen appears to be getting ready for an Independence function, which is suggested by the garments and accessories she is wearing.

Fashion designer and head of the Independence Homecoming Queen Competition, Calvin Southwell also played a major role in ensuring that Joseph's hair, makeup and wardrobe are appropriate for the shoot.

The advert began airing on Monday last on ABS TV and seeks to remind the public that Independence is just around the corner, while at the same time arouse persons' interest to participate in programmes.

Within a matter of weeks, a new advertisement will beam into the homes of viewers.

Last weekend, the independence jingle was released on Crusader Radio. The promotional and marketing team is now stepping up their publicity drive by having heads of the various committees appear on various radio programmes across the country.
