Managing Your Costs
Mobile phone call charges are lower than they've
ever been before, but like all other bills if you're not careful
they can really begin to add up. The following tips will help
to keep your charges down;
" There are three mobile phone tariffs on
offer in ANTIGUA, 'so make sure your tariff matches your lifestyle.
if you're making the majority of your calls during the day then
choose a tariff that offers low daytime charge Alternatively.
If you use your mobile phone socially, then your tariff should
offer low evening calls. If your lifestyle suddenly changes
don't forget to change your tariff accordingly
" Choose the same network as your friends
and family e.g. AIRTEL, CABLE and WIRELESS or APUA PCS , all
charge less for calls made to the same network.
" When a tariff offers free minutes don't
be mistaken into thinking this includes all calls as in most
cases inclusive minutes' only applies to same network or landlines
calls or calls made at certain times of the day.
" If you're really worried about controlling
your costs, Pay as You Go packages work on call vouchers that
you buy up front so you'll never get a bill. But make sore that
you're aware of the call charges, as they can sometimes be more
expensive than Pay Monthly packages
" Get your bills itemized so that you can
monitor your calls. This will highlight where most of your charges
are coming from and you'll be able to see if your call patterns
change and if so decide if it's worth changing tariffs. (Some
packages will offer the service for free, while others will
cost up $5 per month).
" Make sure your keypad is locked whenever
you're not using your phone. This will avoid accidental calls
being made, which can run up your bill very quickly.
Driving
Anything that distracts a driver increases the
risk of an accident - posing a threat to pedestrian, Cyclists,
passengers and other road users. You must be in proper control
of your vehicle while you are driving. Any lack of concentration
or momentary inattention may result in your being prosecuted.
Even using a hands.-free phone while driving will distract you.
