The National Association for Mental Health continues it commitment to the Mental Hospital with the donation of laundry equipment to the institution.

In a presentation ceremony, President of the Association Mrs. Joan Fung revealed that their giving will be continuous in order to ensure that the staff and patients are comfortable at the Mental Hospital.

She handed over two washing machines and a dryer to the Acting Superintendent of the Mental Hospital Mr. Clarence Pilgrim.

She said the Association has been formed over sixteen years ago and has been assisting the mental institution through its fund raising activities that are being held throughout the year, especially from its pre Valentines Dance and tea parties.

Mrs. Fung also took the opportunity to appeal to the general public to support the Association and its programmes. The next planned activity for the Association is its pre-Valentine dance slated for February 11th next year. Funds from this activity will go towards purchasing tubs for the laundry at the Mental Hospital.

Accepting the gifts, Mr. Pilgrim indicated that the equipment will help ease the pressure off the existing machines which have been over used. He extended the Ministry's appreciation to the National Association for Mental Health for their on going assistance and called upon the general public to play their role in making contributions to the Mental Hospital.

He noted that consideration is now being given to a proposal that has been put forward by the Association to rename the Mental Hospital to Clear View Hospital.

Also speaking at the presentation ceremony was the Administrative Secretary for Health Institutions Mr. David Matthery who assured the staff and patients at the Mental Hospital that the Ministry of Health will continue to assist them is whatever way possible.

The whirlpool machines were purchased at a cost of over three thousand dollars.
