Newly appointed British High Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda His Excellency Mr. Terry Knight on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister the Hon. Baldwin Spencer.

High Commissioner Knight replaces Her Excellency Ms. Jean Sharpe who has served in the position for over three years. She retires from the service today December 30.

Ms. Sharpe, who accompanied High Commissioner Knight said that she is pleased to have served as High Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda and was impressed with the smooth transition to power of the United Progressive Party which shows political maturity.

High Commissioner Knight, who last served in St. Vincent, said that he is delighted to take up the position in Antigua and Barbuda and is confident that the relationship which exists between the country and the United Kingdom will be developed further.

Prime Minister Spencer welcomed High Commissioner Knight to Antigua and Barbuda and praised Ms. Sharpe for the tremendous work she has done in ensuring that the relationship between the two countries remain on a firm foot. He said that not only did she render tremendous service to her country, but her work in the community is commendable.

High Commissioner Knight will be responsible for Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis.
