Hon. D. Gissel Isaac-Arrindel to receive PAHO Health Journalism Award

The National winner of the Best Feature article in the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) Regional Media Awards for Excellence in Health Journalism has left the island for Barbados to collect her winnings.

The Hon. D. Gissel Isaac-Arrindel will be presented with an Award at a function on Friday night at the Barbados Hilton.

Mrs. Isaac Arrindel who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the Antigua and Barbuda Legislature, will be among other Regional winners who will be presented with awards and certificates of merit at the function.

The Regional Judges of the PAHO Caribbean Media Award for Excellence in Health Journalism have awarded Mrs. Isaac Arrindell the prize for Best Feature article.

Mrs. Isaac Arrindel, submitted the article on: "Condoms Not Roses and Chocolates", which was published in the Daily Observer newspaper earlier this year.

Minister of Health Hon. John Maginley congratulated Mrs. Isaac Arrindel for her outstanding achievement and her keen interest in Health Journalism and also wished her every success in the future.

The regional judges have also awarded Ms Joanne Hillhouse a Certificate of Merit, for her series of stories on Breast Cancer Survivors.

A presentation ceremony is being organized by the Ministry of Health to honour the winners and those who participated in the competition.
