Prime Minister Spencer Calls for Swift Justice for Jemuel Samuel's Murderer

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua

Prime Minister, the Honourable Baldwin Spencer, has issued a strong statement on the brutal murder of 10 year old Jemuel Samuel, who was the victim of a fatal attack on Monday morning in the Botanical Gardens while on her way to school.

Prime Minister Spencer has called for swift justice against the perpetrator and for the nation to intervene in providing assistance to the police during their investigations.

Here is the full text of The Prime Minister’s statement condemning the brutal killing of Jemuel Samuel:

“The brutal murder of 10 year old Jemuel Samuel is a tragedy of appalling proportions.

The country has received the news of Jamuel’s death with alarm and disgust.

My heart goes out to the parents and relatives of this innocent child who was so viciously swept away from this life.

The atrocity inflicted upon this young girl shames and defiles our entire nation.

I am confident that our law enforcement officers will move swiftly and will work around the clock in bringing the perpetrator to justice, and to administer the most severe punishment that the law prescribes.

I call upon everyone who might be of assistance to the police in identifying and apprehending the depraved individual who committed this heinous crime to come forward promptly.

I appeal to all in our nation to join in prayer for Jemuel’s parents, relatives and friends that God will give them comfort and strength at this time.” (Ends)
