NEW YORK, NY
Antigua and Barbuda was featured on 'The Martha Stewart Show' last Thursday, as part of the exhilarating account of the world’s youngest sea voyager, Michael Perham.
The nationally syndicated lifestyle series hosted by legendary Martha Stewart features headliners, celebrities and ordinary people taking part in fun and fascinating projects – live, in front of a studio audience.
Thursday’s show featured the 14-year old resilient sailor, who became the youngest person ever to sail single-handedly across the Atlantic Ocean when he successfully sailed into English Harbor, Antigua on January 3, 2007. Michael Perham made his first trip to New York City to share tales about this transatlantic voyage. As Martha’s host, Michael described in great detail, his sea adventure across the Atlantic and the warm reception that he received by Antiguans and Barbudans after docking at Antigua’s historical English Harbor on January 3, 2007.
Perham, mentioned the local food and drink he indulged in while on the island, and how good it felt to be back on land. The Martha Stewart Show which airs in millions of homes across the U.S. is just another example of Antigua and Barbuda’s growing exposure in the U.S. market.
Tourism officer in the US, Ms. Shermain Jeremy, commented, “mainstream media opportunities such as these are priceless, and help to strengthen the efforts of the US team as we continue to build brand awareness for the destination.”
Dubbed as America’s “Domestic Diva”, Martha Stewart combines her signature sense of humor with her love of people and projects. The hour-long show presents inspiring ideas from cooking and entertaining, to decorating and home renovating.
