ST. JOHN'S, Antigua
Antigua is set to welcome 100 top travel agents from the UK this week to attend the annual Thomas Cook Signature Stars event. This is the first time that the event will be held in Antigua. The delegates consist of the tour operators' top travel agents and they will be split into two groups with the first arriving 16-20 September and the second 19-23 September.
This event has been jointly organised by the UK team of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourist Board and Thomas Cook Signature. Accommodation is hosted by Sandals Grande Antigua and Spa with air transportation provided by British Airways.
During their stay the travel agents will broaden their knowledge of Antigua and Barbuda with tours, excursions and site inspections of the main tourist sights. The group will participate in various workshops as well as a comprehensive training programme.
Various members of Antigua and Barbuda's Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation will be present throughout the trip, with Director General, Lorraine Headley providing a welcome address. Carol Hay, Director of Tourism for UK & Europe, will coordinate the workshop.
Hay comments; "Our industry partners have worked with us to achieve noticeable growth in visitor arrivals this year and we believe that our success hinges greatly on product and destination knowledge coupled with opportunity to visit and experience Antigua and Barbuda."
