ABSSB introduces its new Social Security cards
August 19, 2008
St. John’s, Antigua
The Antigua & Barbuda Social Security Board has begun issuing its new registration cards in the former World Cup building. The new Social Security card has the additional feature of the contributor's photo and is equipped with special security features that will make duplication almost impossible. This comes at a time when security concerns make photo identification critical when conducting business.
The new Social Security card will be issued in phases and at present only first time registrants are being processed. Antiguans by birth require a passport or a birth certificate with a photo I.D. for registration. Nationals by naturalization require a valid passport. Non-nationals require a valid passport and a valid work permit. In addition to these documents persons are asked to present their marriage or divorce certificate where applicable.
Persons who are already in possession of a Social Security card will be advised at a later date when new cards will be issued.
