Antigua and Barbuda Expresses Sympathy on the Passing
of Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has sent a message of condolences to the United States Government on the passing of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. We reproduce below the text of the Diplomatic Note sent to the US Embassy in Barbados.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honour to refer to the passing of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, Representative of the 11th District of Ohio. The Ministry has the honour to request that the following message of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda be conveyed to the appropriate authorities and to the family of the late Congresswoman Tubbs Jones.

Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones was a friend of Antigua and Barbuda. She visited our shores on several occasions during which time she had met with members of government on issues pertaining to Antigua and Barbuda and United States relations. She possessed a deep understanding of the complexities of the development of small island states and recognized that these challenges were exacerbated by the process of globalization. Her passing is a tremendous loss, not only to the United States House of Representatives but to all those who have had the privilege to engage Mrs. Tubbs-Jones during her long and distinguished career. The Ministry wishes to extend, on the behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, condolences on the passing of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United States of America the assurances of its highest consideration."
