A High Level Delegation of officials from the Exim Bank of China will arrive on Antigua tomorrow to finalise arrangements with government on a concessionary loan agreement for a new power generation plant and other developmental projects including the V.C. Bird International Airport Terminal.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Mr. David Shoul said that the preparatory team headed by the Director General of the Concessional Loan Department of Exim Bank Mr. Wu Shaohua will also make arrangements for the arrival of a thirteen member team headed by the President of Exim Bank of China.

Ambassador Shoul added that the delegation will hold meetings with Prime Minister the Hon. Baldwin Spencer, Works and Transportation Minister the Hon. Wilmoth Daniel, Finance and Economy Minister Dr. the Hon. Errol Cort, Civil Aviation Minister the Hon. Harold Lovell and technicians from the various ministries. The team will also tour the proposed site for the new airport terminal building and the Deep Water Harbour.

“Antigua and Barbuda stands to greatly benefit from the visit of this preparatory delegation and the delegation which is scheduled to visit next week headed by the President of the China Exim Bank. During that visit the government and the officials from the China Exim Bank will sign a concessionary loan agreement for a new power plant and finalise arrangements for the construction of the new airport terminal,” noted Ambassador Shoul.

“The Government and the various institutions within China have been very supportive of the Baldwin Spencer Administration developmental plans. We consider China as a true friend of this nation and we will forever be thankful for the generous support that they have given to us,” Ambassador Shoul stated.

The Chinese Delegation arriving in Antigua on Thursday also includes Ms. Liu Ya and Mr. Zhu Min of the Concessional Loan Department of Exim Bank and Mr. Liu Zhiming, Vice President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation CCECC and Mr. Yan Zhihua, General Manager of Foreign Aid Project Division of CCECC.
