(St. John's, Antigua) March 6, 2016 - Antigua and Barbuda was represented regionally this weekend at the 18th Annual Salon du Voyages & des Vacances, held in Fort de France Martinique, by Regional Marketing Manager at the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Mrs. Charmaine Spencer and Mrs. Dulcie Looby-Greene, Compliance & Accommodations Officer in the Ministry of Tourism.

The three day event which saw over 25,000 potential visitors passing through its doors from Friday through Sunday, is one of the busiest travel trade shows in the Caribbean.

Antigua and Barbuda, was able to promote its hotel and tourism product to the avid French traveling public and local media. The French Antilles remain a primary market of focus within the region, as a part of the destination's strategic efforts to grow regional arrivals.

Regional Marketing Manager, Charmaine Spencer said, "We used this opportunity to continue to build awareness of Antigua and Barbuda within Martinique, by promoting our range of varied accommodations, activities, and festivities, and to invite persons to visit for the 60th Carnival Celebrations, happening from July 22 - August 2. Additionally, we met with local travel agencies to further discuss the operations of charter flights directly from Martinique to Antigua later this year."

Earlier in February, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, hosted a group of over 50 visitors from Martiniquan organization AMDOR, who travelled to Antigua as part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations.

As a part of this weekend's activities the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, offered participants of the show the opportunity to win a 'weekend for two' prize trip to Antigua and Barbuda from Martinique, compliments LIAT - The Caribbean Airline and Siboney Beach hotel.

Other Caribbean islands exhibiting at Salon du Voyages & des Vacances were St. Lucia, Barbados, Guadeloupe, St. Martin, and Dominica.
