Antigua and Barbuda gains international recognition after securing the gold in the 19th Warri Festival in Cannes, France!

Tourism Minister the Hon. Asot A. Michael has lauded the most recent achievement of Mr. Trevor Simon after he secured first place in the 19th Warri Festival for Cannes held from the 27th to 29th February in Cannes, France.

Minister Michael who sat with Mr. Simon on his return home was elated to hear of the remarkable representation made of the twin island tourist destination at an event dubbed the 30th anniversary festival of the Cannes Mind Sports, of which the 19th Warri Festival formed part.

Video presentations were made of the twin island destinations tourism product offerings and as a result Antigua has been earmarked to host the International Warri Tournament in 2018.

Mr. Simon who is fresh back from his victory participated in the senior's category amongst a field of professionals from seven other countries namely, Spain, France, Cameroon, England, Cape Verde, the Ivory Coast, and Kazakhstan.

The competition took on a best of 3-format with Simon winning all of his preliminary games, then went on to meet Cape Verde in the Semi-finals and Kazakhstan in the finals.

The Hon. Tourism Minister has pledged his governments support in ensuring that the nation is ready and well represented for the 2018 event which promises to bring numerous international delegates to our shores.
